Annual Events
SIMA® Weekend | January
Each year in January we hold an event that enables you to engage in a personal development process through the use of the System for Identifying Motivated Abilities (SIMA®). The SIMA tool enters you into a process of identifying and understanding the unique combination of abilities and motivations that make you who you are! Rather than relying on bubble sheets or other kinds of “standardized” testing formats, the SIMA process works with detailed information that comes directly from you!
The result of going through the SIMA process is the development your Motivated Abilities Pattern (MAP). Based on information provided directly from you, your MAP is a detailed summary of the unique combination of abilities and motivations that combine to make you who you are! This summary is a powerful tool that will open your eyes to a world of impact in your individual, family, and work life.
Women’s Seminar | March
The women of the CityChurch gather together on a Saturday in March for a time of fellowship and development around things we are learning as a church and how they apply specifically to women. It is a time of reflection and challenge around the important role of women in our families, churches, and community life––living skillful lives and progressing the gospel.
CityChurch Picnics
We hold two CityChurch-wide picnics each year, marking both the beginning and ending of the summer. These provide a context for interaction, networking, and relationship development for the entire CityChurch.
- Memorial Day Breakfast at Brookside Park
- Labor Day Picnic at Emma McCarthy Lee Park
BILD International Conference | October 29–November 10, 2012
Every year we host a one-of-a-kind training event as leaders from all over the world come to Ames for the BILD International Conference. The International Conference is a 2-week training and networking opportunity for new and current partners of BILD International to receive training in and experience the New Testament principles of church-based theological education in action.
This is always a rich experience for the CityChurch family as we extend hospitality to the world through interaction with these leaders both at training events and as we host many of them in our homes.
The conference concludes with several key opportunities that all members of the CityChurch are invited to participate in.

Christmas Program | December
Every December, the children of the CityChurch participate with aduots to put on a Christmas program for the CityChurch, family and friends! The program provides an opportunity for all of the children to work together with each other and adults in a collective event and to discover and use their gifts in multi-faceted ways.
